First Photo Shoot

I had my first photo shoot today! I have a friend that goes to my church that needed some pics taken for various reasons, so we went out to a doctors office in town to take some pictures.

A doctors office? I know, seems weird. Just look at the pictures. This is behind the doctors office. Perfect setting with the clouds rolling in.

These are the semi-edited pics. Still not done playing with them. Count these as a preview.

Picture Happy

I realize I have not posted pictures in a while. So here is a picture happy blog!

Another pretty bridge. I have found one good thing about this town. I love all the bridges we have.

I wanted to climb this tree and sit there all day.

Our church has some exciting news! We bought land and we are moving into a building that is a few miles from the land. We went out to check out the land and the building.

We went to Atlanta this weekend to visit my in-laws. Here is Little Man in his seat looking at the cars go by.

God Sure Has A Sense Of Humor...

My mom always told me growing up, that God has a sense of humor. She said this because she, my father, and my sister are all very quiet people. Then God made me.

If you don't know me, I am very loud, very opinionated, and will tell you what I think when I think it. Mom always said that we will never get lost in the woods, cause they would find us if I was in the area because I am so loud.

Well, I am learning that God does indeed have a good sense of humor. I, being loud and opinionated, also have very little patience. I know what I want, and I want it NOW. That being said, this molar pregnancy has thrown my system into overdrive! I want another baby, and I want it NOW. Knowing I have to wait for my health has been very hard.

Now for the really humorous part. Since my surgery in December, I have learned that 6 people are pregnant. Not including my online friends! It seems, to me, that God is like, Hey, lets see how many people I can get pregnant around her, to teach her patience.

Hey, um... God... I get it! When is my turn?

The first few people I was very upset about. I was still in the "why me" stage, and wondering when it was all going to be over. I would act all excited, then go home and have a good cry. These last few ladies, I have just laughed it off.

That sounds horrible... I am VERY excited for all of these ladies, because most of them are close friends. I laugh because I can still see God sitting up there saying... You... you need to be pregnant, because I am teaching her over there patience.

Don't pray for something unless you are willing to take what he gives you!

Things I Say Daily

Ok. Most of us have seen this video by now, if not, watch this first.

Well, I decided to write down everything I say in a day. I did great for about 20 minutes. Then I got distracted! So here is what all I wrote down in those 20 minutes, then randomly throughout the day when I remembered to write it down. Don't worry, I'm not singing!

Good Morning
Wet boy!
Phew….Stinky boy!
Lets get clean

Eat? Milk?
Eat your breakfast

Don’t throw your food on the floor

Dry it up. No tempers.

Hey. Dry it up!

Let’s go play. Come on.

Trash man is here! Lets go watch him. Here he goes. LOOK at him! Wave bye-bye!

Let’s go upstairs. Night night.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine……. You make me happy …. When skies are grey….. (more singing)

I love you. Night night

45 minutes is not a nap!

Ew stinky. Lets get clean.

What do you want to eat for lunch?

Leave Me Some Love

Hey guys. I see lots of people checking my blog all the time, but no one leaves comments... I would love to see some comments, so I know what you like, and what you don't. So.. Leave me some love!

Nicely Said

Every wonder what a SAHM does? Well, someone wrote into one of those "Dear Abby" columns in the Washington Post. One of my Facebook friends posted this... and I thought I would share!

Photobucket

Below is the text, in case you have bad eyes, or just don't want to try to read it in the picture. I could not have said it better.

Why Don't Friends With Kids Have Time?
Tell Me About It by Carolyn Hax : Friend really doesn't get the kid thing

● Carolyn:
My best friend has a child. Her: Exhausted, busy, no time for self, no time for me, etc. Me (no kids): Wow. Sorry. What'd you do today? Her: Park, play group . . .

OK. I've done Internet searches; I've talked to parents. I don't get it. What do stay-at-home moms do all day? Please, no lists of library, grocery store, dry cleaners. . . . I do all those things, too, and I don't do them every day. I guess what I'm asking is: What is a typical day, and why don't moms have time for a call or e-mail? I work and am away from home nine hours a day (plus a few late work events), and I manage to get it all done. I'm feeling like the kid is an excuse to relax and enjoy — not a bad thing at all — but if so, why won't my friend tell me the truth? Is this a contest ("My life is so much harder than yours")? What's the deal? I've got friends with and without kids, and all us child-free folks get the same story and have the same questions.
— Tacoma, Wash.

● Tacoma:

Relax and enjoy. You're funny.

Or you're lying about having friends with kids.

Or you're taking them at their word that they actually have kids, because you haven't personally been in the same room with them. Internet searches?

I keep wavering between giving you a straight answer and giving my forehead some keyboard. To claim you want to understand — while in the same breath implying that the only logical conclusions are that your mom friends are either lying or competing with you — is disingenuous indeed.

So, since it's validation you seem to want, the real answer is what you get. In list form. When you have young kids, your typical day is: constant attention, from getting them out of bed, fed, clean, dressed; to keeping them out of harm's way; to answering their coos, cries and questions; to having two arms and carrying one kid, one set of car keys and supplies for even the quickest trips, including the latest-to-be-declared-essential piece of molded plastic gear; to keeping them from unshelving books at the library; to enforcing rest times; to staying one step ahead of them lest they get too hungry, tired or bored, any one of which produces the kind of checkout-line screaming that gets the checkout line shaking its head.

It's needing 45 minutes to do what takes others 15.

It's constant vigilance, constant touch, constant use of your voice, constant relegation of your needs to the second tier.

It's constant scrutiny and second-guessing from family members and friends, well-meaning and otherwise. It's resisting the constant temptation to seek short-term relief at everyone's long-term expense.

It's doing all this while concurrently teaching virtually everything — language, manners, safety, resourcefulness, discipline, curiosity, creativity, empathy. Everything.

It's also a choice, yes. And a joy. But if you spent all day, every day, with this brand of joy — and then when you got your first 10 minutes to yourself, you wanted to be alone with your thoughts instead of calling a good friend — a good friend wouldn't judge you, complain about you to mutual friends or marvel at how much more productively she uses her time.

Either make a sincere effort to understand, or keep your snit to yourself.

Happy Dance

I am doing a happy dance today. You know, when you throw your arms up in the air, and jump up and down? Yeah, I know, bad mental picture. If you know me, you know I can't dance!

Why am I doing a happy dance you ask? Well... Several things!

*My blood work was great! We are finally negative!*

*I found out a good friend of mine is pregnant after a miscarriage last month. And so far everything looks good*

*Several of my "online friends" had great appointments today!*

*Little man took a 2 hour nap*

*My doctor said we are cleared to conceive again after one more blood draw in March*

My doctor has once again shortened my wait! He said I am "disgustingly healthy" and we should be "good to go" after the March blood work!

Yep. Starting in March, well, mid-March, my husband and I will be, once again, on the trying to conceive bandwagon!!

I have become obsessed with having a 2009 baby every since I was due in July. Now I know it is a possibility. If we get pregnant in March, we will be due in December. I know it is not my timing, but Gods, however I am excited to have the chance again!

Update and Editing

I had more blood work today. Are you ready for this?

1.13!!!

YEA! I am officially negative! I have an appointment this afternoon for an annual visit, so I will ask my doctor if my 4 month wait starts now.

Doing some editing today to the blog. If the pictures don't work, that's why. I will get them all back up soon.

ETA: Editing is done. Let me know if things don't work.

We Now Have...

Photobucket
Soft, non-dangerous corners on the coffee table! I have been meaning to get corner guards since he hit his head last week. My husband did not think we needed them, but I have been SO nervous with him around the table. My thought is, what if he did it again, and hit his eye? I don't want to permanently disable my child. So, as usual, mom wins and we got the bumpers. After I put them on, Daddy told little man to try them out. I think he wants him to hit his head again. Please don't stress mom out!

And here is his head today... I have no idea what the little red scab is to the left of the big one. That was not there the other day.
Photobucket

We also got him a potty. I know it is WAY too early for potty training, but we went ahead and bought one so he can play with it, and get used to sitting on it.

... And Wiskers On Kittens

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

Ok. I know I said I would post this in a few days, but I am playing with the camera today, and decided to go ahead and do it now. Here are a few of his favorite non-toy toys.

Empty Coke bottles are always fun. They are drumsticks, things to roll, and even try to drink out of. He is way too little for Coke, so he usually gets the empty bottles. He loves empty bottles... even beer ones... I'll get to that later.
Photobucket

Empty popcorn tin left over from Christmas. It makes a great drum!!
Photobucket

Markers, pens, crayons, highlighters... he loves them all. He likes to chew on them, and "write" with them. I have been fortunate enough that he does not know how to take the lid off the markers yet, but he does know how to work a pen!
Photobucket
As you can see, I can't even take a picture without him wanting to play with these.

Oh the TV remote. His all time favorite. We bought him a play remote, and he still wants ours.
Photobucket

Coathangers are fun! They make great braclets. He also likes to carry them around.
Photobucket

The dryer door. This is especially fun when Mommy is folding laundry. He likes to try to shut it when I am putting stuff in, or taking stuff out.
Photobucket

Knives. He loves to just walk around the house with them. Ok. Just kidding. Had to see if you were still paying attention.
Photobucket

As you can see, anything makes a great toy for a toddler. As I was cleaning up his playroom today, I found all of these. An empty beer bottle (from last night... Daddy drank it), a highlighter, a pen, the Blockbuster card that has been missing since last week, and and empty ribbon container from Christmas. That last one is the only one that stayed in his playroom.
Photobucket

Head Wound

Just showing you how little mans head has healed so far. The bruise went thru every color in the color spectrium, and is in the end process now. He has a nice scab over the cut now, and I think it is healing well.

I thought I would give you a glimpse into my sons favorite things. Today while playing in the play room, I decided to take some pictures. These are a few of his favorite toys.

The train table I found at a consignment sale, with the race car track we found at my least favorite store, Walmart.
Photobucket

Spiderman that sings and dances. We saw this at a playgroup, and little man just had to have it! You can tell him to get Spidey, Spiderman, or even sing the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and he will get this and bring it to you.
Photobucket

Balls of ANY size! He has about 20 ball pit balls he loves to pull out everyday, and randomly scatter thru out the house. I have found them in my shoes, in my purse, even in the cats water bowl. He also has several footballs, baseballs, soft, hard, big, small... this boy has tons of balls!
Photobucket

Buttons. Does not matter if they are on a toy, on a remote, the TV.... any thing he can push, hes going to!
Photobucket

This is his dog he got for his birthday. He brings it to me and loves when it sings "Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes"
Photobucket

This is his block sorter. He will sit there for hours, putting blocks in, and taking them out.
Photobucket

Problem is, when he gets frustrated with them not going in, he takes the lid off...
Photobucket
Drops the block in and puts the lid back on.

This boy loves cars. He will push them around saying "vroom". This is one of the cars that goes with his race track. It moves on its own.
Photobucket
I was playing with the shutter speed again on that picture... sorry.

And last, but not least, his push car. He also got this for his birthday. He pushes it, pulls it, rides on it, stands on it... yep, its the all purpose toy!
Photobucket
That last one is my favorite! It takes no batteries and makes no noise! AH silence... Thanks to my mom for that one!

Ill post in a few days his favorite non-toy toys... you know, the things that are not made to be toys.

History Being Made....

This morning, little man and I spent the day playing and watching the news. I know he does not understand what is going on today, and he will not understand the importance of the day until much later. I did explain to him what is happening, and how the country has a new leader. He is sleeping right now, as the new president is addressing the nation. He is the first president my son will ever know, and I am praying he is a good one.

No matter how you felt about him during the election, now is the time to support him. I did not vote for him, but I will support him. He is our new leader, and my husbands new boss. I am praying for him daily, as he tries to bring the nation away from war, and out of the economic crisis that we are in. I am terrified to see how the world reacts, and terrified of the repercussions that will happen if we withdraw from the war too quickly, but on the same hand, I am excited to see if he can bring all Americans together, and make us all proud of him.

Lets all, as Americans, ban together and support and pray for the new president of our country.

What Is Up With My Child?

I think my son hates his forehead! If you remember, about a month ago, he bit the pavement when out with daddy, and scratched up his forehead.

Well, today, he was running around as usual, and tripped RIGHT at the coffee table. Now, I know they sell those things to "pad" the coffee table corners, just for things like this, but you know, I thought they were not needed. I mean, I watch my child. Hes never left unsupervisied, so I thought this would not happen! Boy I was wrong.

His forehead met the coffee table corner, and they did not get along! He bled for quite a bit, which I know is normal for head cuts. He cried for a minute, and when I was applying pressure on it, he kept squirming. It finally stopped bleeding and I got this picture.

Photobucket

He's playing now, fine. Running around again already.

I think my head hurts more than his does!

Update From My Doctor

So after my beautiful letdown the other day, I emailed my doctor wanting more answers. This is what I got!

They will do the blood work when ever I want, so I scheduled my next one for 2 weeks. I want to know when I am at zero. He also said that he wants me to be at zero for four months before trying again. Four months sure beats the six he originally told me!

I also emailed a doctor up in Boston who spealizes in these things. He said he makes his paitents be at zero for three months before trying again.

I am doing better today. I am determined to get to zero, then convince my doctor that four months is just not gonna work for me. I am gonna convince him that three is long enough! I want off this train as soon as possible!

Big Letdown

Man I was excited for that phone call today. I had an appointment for blood work again today (the 6th for this "pregnancy"... but who is counting?). I sat by the phone, determined to call my doctor at 4 pm if his nurse had not called me by then. I just knew I was at zero. I mean, I was at 23 two weeks ago... and my cycle has returned. I just knew that meant I was at zero. At about 3:35 my phone rings. Its the nurse, and I just know she is going to tell me I am at zero!

Nope. I am crushed. My results from today were 4.69. I know, that's really close to zero, even considered negative in some labs, but not mine. Now the doctor wants to see me again in 2 months! I am going to call him back later and see about still seeing him every week until I finally hit zero, then I want to talk about trying to conceive again. I know it all seems so fast, I had my surgery just over a month ago, but I am ready to move on, and get pregnant again with a healthy baby. My doctor first said I have to wait 6 months from zero to try again. I just want to know when I hit zero, and know when the countdown starts! If I have to wait this long, I want to have a countdown from zero.

Thanks for reading my whining.

Hikes and Damns.

We went for a nice hike yesterday, on a river trail we have here. We started at the ending, because its a 2 1/2 mile trial, one way, so I have never seen the end of it. It is close to a Georgia Power plant, which has a damn. I never even knew that it was there. I had my camera with me, and got some pretty cool shots. We had a picnic lunch on top of a flood barrier next to a lake, which was next to the damn.

On the way to the river bed. You can see the lake on the right, the concrete barriers are holding the lake in.
Photobucket

Up where we had our picnic. The lake is on the right, the river bed and damn on the left.
Photobucket

My son, offering me his banana. He likes to share.
Photobucket

We kept hiking, and found the other side of the damn. This is the lake on the top, and the view from the top of the damn
Photobucket

The water
Photobucket

I thought this was a great time to play with the shutter speed on my camera. Here is that picture, which has been further edited on the computer.
Photobucket

As for me, it seems like my body is slowly getting back to normal. My cycle came back yesterday, in the middle of our hike.

My son is also now officially a toddler. I know I said a few weeks back that he took his first steps. Well, he is all over now! Here he is even walking around with his pj's over his head. Silly boy!

Its Official!

My doctor just called. Glad I did not wait for them to call me! My official number was 23.33. My next blood draw is 1/12. PRAY FOR ZERO!!

Monday, December 29, 2008

GREAT News Today!

Well, I went in for my 2nd post-op blood work today. My appointment was at 9:30, so I figured that I would have the results back after lunch.

When they did not call by 4:30, I decided to call them. Not the best time to find out your doctors office closes at 4:30.

Being the quick thinker that I am, I decided to text someone who works there, that also goes to my church. I don't like to wait for anything, so having to wait untill the morning, when I can call my doctors office again is torture!

She quickly texted me back..... my numbers were 23. TWENTY THREE!!! Praise God!!

Keep the prayers coming that I am at zero next week, and that my doctor is up on the new research, and lets us try again sooner than 6 months!

Christmas fun

I can't believe the holidays are over! They went well! My In-Laws came in for a few days, then my mom and her hubby came for a few days. I cooked a ham, green bean casserole, yams, stuffing... all the good stuff! We went to a Christmas Eve service, and went to look at the Christmas lights around town. All in all it was a good Christmas.

We got the decorations put away today, and in the spirit of looking forward, I applied to my local college. I have a lot of hours already completed, but decided a few years back that I wanted to be a nurse. It was actually my first choice, and I changed my major a few times. My goal now is to work in labor and delivery and be a lactation consultant. I am a little nervous about going back to school with a child, but I am sure it will be fun! Maybe I will even get to take a photography class or two!

I have my next doctors appointment Monday. Anxious to see where my numbers will be!

Some People.....

Are SO rude!! I had to go to the grocery store today... really did not want to, but I forgot to get chicken stock, and you can't make dressing with out chicken stock. So my mother-in-law and I braved the store. I saw a woman putting groceries in her car in the first spot, so I stopped my car, and put my blinker on. Several cars went around me as the woman started her car, then got out of her car and checked her tires. Just as she was pullng out, (she pulled foward) a woman from behind me pulled in front of me and took the spot!

I honked her, and she just smiled, kinda a smile like "HAHA I got it". So I parked farther down and as I was walking into the store (Mother-in-law and my son were in the car)I passed as she was getting out of her car. I decided that she needed to know that what she did was highly rude. So I said "You know I was waiting on that spot?" and she said "so was I" ... um... yeah right lady... you were BEHIND me... not the way it works. So I keep walking because its not worth getting into an argument in a parking lot on Chrismas Eve over a parking spot. Apparently its too hard to say I'm sorry...

I hope Santa brings her coal! You listening Santa? The lady with the out of state tags deserves coal this year!

Post-Op Appointment.

I had my post-op appointment today. So far all is well. We got a copy of the pathology report, which says they found “blood clot and decidua with admixed chorionic villi showing extensive hydropic degeneration. Note: The histologic features noted may be seen in partial hydatidiform mole” Ok, say what?? That’s what I said, so I turned to my good friend Google, and basically they found a blood clot, and the lining of the uterus mixed with placenta tissue, showing extensive fluid filled sacs.... which is seen in molar pregnancies. They are saying it’s consistent with partial molar pregnancies, but I still think mine was complete, because of the ultrasound. From what I found, the genetic make up is the only way to know for sure if it was a partial or complete, and they did not do genetic testing. From talking to people online that have gone thru this, all of the partial molar pregnancies saw the baby at 8-10 weeks with a good heartbeat, and then started bleeding around 12-16 and ended up miscarrying the child. We saw nothing baby related on the ultrasound, which is another reason I think mine was complete.

My doctor is letting me use a method of birth control known as natural family planning. Its basically where you don’t take anything, just monitor your cycle, and use protection around your ovulation days. I already monitor my cycle from trying to get pregnant, so that should be no problem. I just did not want to start taking birth control, just to have to stop when we are cleared to try again. The doctor did not mention how long we would have to wait until we can try again, but did say I needed to be zero for a few cycles. I have been doing research, and it looks like if your hCG levels drop to zero within 6 weeks of the D&C then you can try again after 3 months of zero. So I am hoping my doctor will follow this new research.

My lung x-ray was clear, which is great news, and the pathology report said that no abnormalities were found, so it was not cancer yet. My hCG was 55,195 on the day of the D&C and 535.24 today, so they have already dropped a ton! Of course, when you take out what is making that hormone, it’s going to drop a ton. He said it was such a good drop, he will see me again in 2 weeks for another blood draw. Im optimistic with the large drop, but I know it could still take a few months to get down to zero.

I am feeling a little better after this appointment, knowing my hCG was not too high to start with, so I don’t have as far to go.

In other news, little man took a tumble yesterday. He was out with daddy while I was enjoying a mom’s night out. He was walking outside, and tripped. His nose and forehead are all scratched up. He is not in pain from it, just looks painful! Here is a picture for ya...

Photobucket

Thanks for riding this crazy train with me. I hope my numbers keep dropping, and I can get off soon!

How Are You Doing?

Isn't that a silly question? I get asked that question several times a day. I know people mean well, but I don't even know how to answer that question right now.

We have a billion questions for the doctors. My first follow-up appointment is Thursday at 1 pm. I want to know what my hCG numbers were at my D&C, so I know how far I have to go to get to zero. I want to know if I am now considered "special" in the pregnancy world... do I get extra bloodwork, more ultrasounds, etc... when I do get to be pregnant again.

I am starting to feel better. I had a few drinks and a good cry the other night, and that seemed to help. I have realized that my health is the number one priority right now. I have found several groups on-line for people that have gone through this, so having them to answer questions is great too. I also met a woman at my playgroup (well- I already knew her- but just found out) who had this same thing, well- a partial molar- two months ago. Having people who have been where I am helps a lot.

Then Life Throws You a Curveball...

Well, I always wanted my children close in age. 2 years apart at the most. I was so excited when I got pregnant and found out they were going to be 21 months apart. PERFECT!! Everything was going well, I had early blood work, and my numbers doubled just as they were supposed to. I had started on progesterone because my numbers were low with my son, just as a precaution.

Yesterday was my first official OBGYN appointment. I was excited for the ultrasound. To see that little heartbeat. We get to the office, and go back to the ultrasound room. It was the probe ultrasound, which is vaginally. As soon as the tech put the probe in, I knew something was wrong. I could see nothing. No sack, no baby, nothing. Just white. That's when the tech started asking questions. Were my periods regular? Had I had any bleeding. She then told me what I knew already, that there was no baby.

She left the room to talk to the other ultrasound tech and to a doctor. Turns out I had a molar pregnancy. If you don't know what that is, welcome, I had no clue until yesterday. Apparently a complete (you can have a partial one too, I had a complete) molar pregnancy is when an "empty" egg is fertilized. The cells/tissue that form the placenta then grow out of control, taking over everything inside your uterus. A baby never forms in a complete mole.

I was taken back for a chest xray (because the cells are pre-cancerous, and can travel in your body, growing elsewhere), then sent to the hospital for a D&C (which is where they basically take everything out of your uterus).

I am home now, and feeling ok. I am very tired, and still confused as to why this happened to me. The odds of getting it in the first place are 1 in 1500.

The scary part, and the horrible part, is that now that it is out, I have to go thru twice weekly blood tests, then weekly, then monthly. They have to monitor my hCG levels very closely. Once they go down to 0, I have to then wait 6 months (with monthly blood work) before we can try again. If my levels stop dropping, or start rising, then it could be the cells growing again. Which could be cancer.

I am hoping and praying for the best, that my body gets back to normal soon. I know my physical body will heal faster than my emotional one.

Here is a picture of my ultrasound from yesterday, and a comparison one of my son at 8 weeks.

Sad World We Live In....

So we live in a very gang infested town. It is a rough town. But the east side of town is where most of the crime happens.

Not today. My husband and I were at a local bar and grill watching The Bears game. We noticed a ton of activity (police cars, ambulances, etc...) acoss the street at a grocery store.

Come to find out, it was a murder suscide! At 1 pm on Sunday, at a grocery store in the nice part of our town!!

Aparently two men were fighting for a while. Well, one goes to the store to get some stuff and the other guy was following him. So the one guy is in the checkout lane, and the other guy comes in, shoots him twice in the chest- killing him- then the shooter walks outside and shoots himself- killing himself.

How scary todays world is! When you can't even grocery shop without the fear of being shot! And you can't even eat without seeing the aftermath!
